How to take a good picture of yourself? In today’s post, I’m telling you some of my ways to successful #advancedselfie. At the end you will find a list of the equipment I use to take my pictures, both those taken with the camera and the phone.
- Think about what you want to capture in the picture.
Before you start taking pictures of yourself, especially if it’s something new to you, think about what you really want to show in the picture. Look around you and think about what frames you want to capture. Don’t put the camera on a tripod right away! Take it in your hand and think about the possibilities of your location.
If you want, you can take a few pictures of the location itself to see if you like it.
2. Keep the staff in order.
When you have an idea for a picture, whether you’re taking it at home or outdoors, make sure you keep the frame „tidy”. And it’s not just about not having a dustbin or laundry in the background, it’s also about removing any unnecessary elements from the frame that might distract the viewer.
I had to remove trash that was lying under my feet, or a big billboard behind my back from the frame a few times when editing the photos, just because I didn’t pay attention to it before I started taking pictures.
- Take a test photo.
Before you start taking a whole series of photos, take a few test photos, which will help you to blend in with your surroundings. Stand in the middle of the frame, right, left, take a step forwards and backwards, turn sideways, etc. to see where you need to take the pictures so that the frame looks good.
When I started taking pictures of myself, I often forgot about these few test shots, so I was too close or too far away from camera and my silhouette in the picture was too big or too small, which broke the picture composition.
4. Use the remote control or application to control your camera.
Taking pictures with a self-timer is tiring for you? Use the Bluetooth remote control or download the camera application that lets you control it from your phone. It’s that trick that Sorelle Amore told me that made me love to do advanced selfie.
5. Clean the lens and turn off autofocus.
Many people complain that their phone or camera is taking blurred pictures. And although it is sometimes the result of a bad focus point, it is very often the case that a dirty lens is the cause of the out-of-focus picture. What should I do to keep a picture sharp? Start by cleaning the lens and turn off the autofocus! In the camera, set the focus manually and on your phone, click where you plan to put yourself in the frame.
If you’re taking pictures on the phone and you have the possibility to use a pro camera – use it! And remember that in most camera control applications you can set the focus on your phone screen.
6. Give yourself time to learn.
The ability to take pictures of yourself, as well as the ability to edit them, is something you need to practice by trial and error. So don’t be afraid to experiment and don’t give up, and you’ll see that over time making a great advanced self will not cause you any trouble.
